- 1Tell us about the piece: what it needs to hold, where it goes, and the look you're after.
- 2Measurements. For built-in work we recommend a site visit, which can be booked as an add-on, particularly in older properties where walls are rarely true.
- 3Your designer produces the drawings and material specification, including scribe allowances so the piece can be fitted to the wall as it actually is.
- 4Two revisions, then you approve the drawings before anything goes to production.
Take them to any maker you like
Your drawings are fabrication ready, dimensioned and specified so a joiner can price and build from them without guesswork. That means quotes come back comparable to one another rather than padded to cover unknowns, and close to what you actually end up paying.
Use your own carpenter, or we'll send the design to two Akiva partner fabricators for quotation covering manufacture and fitting. No obligation either way.
Responsibility follows whoever measured. If we carried out the site visit and the measurements were ours, we cover the cost of putting it right, capped at the value of the piece. If you supplied the measurements, it sits with you. If the measurements and drawings were correct but the piece was built wrongly, that's the maker's. In every case you approve the drawings before production, which is the point at which anything wrong is cheap to fix.
This package covers one built-in piece. If you need more than one, or the piece simply sits in the room rather than fixing to it, see the full furniture design page for the freestanding package and how we price multiple pieces.
