Artwork is usually hung too high
The centre of a picture should sit at roughly 145cm from the floor, about average eye level, and most people hang considerably above that. It's the single most common reason a room with genuinely good pieces in it still feels slightly off. Placement decisions like this one are what separate a room that's furnished from a room that's finished.

Case Study - Egerton Country Home, Kent Full-House Interior-Styling by Jess
Jess, our lead stylist with a decade of residential-design experience, was asked to breathe character into a newly purchased four-bed country home in Egerton, Kent.
The brief: keep the rooms calm and neutral enough for everyday living, yet add confident colour moments that felt curated, not staged.
Jess anchored every space in a warm Greige envelope, then layered earthy accents: forest-green velvet in the principal suite, teal-and-ochre scallops in the loft twin room and a statement burnt-orange armchair in the sitting room. Natural textures, rattan, oak and grass cloth soften the lines of the existing joinery and add tactile depth, while sculptural ceramics and botanical artwork pull the whole scheme together.
What people usually ask before booking
What is interior styling, and how is it different from interior design?
Styling is the finishing layer: placing and arranging the pieces you already have. Interior design handles the bones of the room, layouts, lighting plans, and choosing what goes in it in the first place. A designer decides what the room contains; styling decides exactly where it all goes.
Do I need to have used your design service first?
Yes. Styling works from the scheme your designer created, so we already know the intent behind every piece. If you haven't designed with us yet, our Design service is the place to start.
How is this different from post-design support?
Styling is placement only, the final arranging of everything once it's arrived. Post-design support is broader project help: coordinating with contractors, checking deliveries, and troubleshooting during the build. Some clients use both, at different stages.
Can I just do it myself?
Yes, and we've written a guide for exactly that. The Styling Guide covers the placement principles our designers work to, 29 measurements and 8 diagrams across six rooms. It isn't specific to your project the way our styling service is, but it's the same thinking, and it's £5.99.
Will you work with my existing furniture and decor?
Yes. Styling isn't about buying new. If you have pieces you love, they get worked into the arrangement alongside anything sourced during the design phase.
Which rooms benefit most from styling?
High-impact areas deliver the greatest visual payoff: living rooms, open-plan kitchens, principal bedrooms and entrance halls. We also style nurseries, home offices and outdoor living zones.
How is styling priced?
By the hour rather than a fixed package. The number of rooms, how many pieces are involved, and whether it's on-site or a styling guide all affect the hours needed. For on-site work, travel time and distance are confirmed upfront before anything is agreed.
