The Cromwell Apartment

Versatile colour schemes and subtle textures mark the renewal of this modern apartment in London.

The Details

This Cromwell Road apartment—two bedrooms, two bathrooms, perched on the 10th floor of a modern London development—was reimagined as both a smart property investment and a true sense of home for its owner, a young international student. Living here with her best friend and a small dog, she wanted a space that felt fresh, contemporary, and functional, without sacrificing warmth or personality.

We anchored the design in a timeless, neutral palette to protect resale appeal, then built in the client’s preference for earthy colour through tactile finishes, thoughtful styling moments, and flexible accents that can evolve with her over time.

How we achieved it

We worked with a minimal aesthetic throughout the apartment, applying an abundance of neutral yet warm tones.

The orientation of the open plan living space was rejigged, creating a dining space in front of the show stopping window and a TV area in a more practical position.

Bespoke solutions were then designed for these new areas to ensure versatility and functionality, including a dining bench with hidden storage and a wall hung media unit.

To maintain a light and airy ambience that flows from room to room, pale timbers were chosen as the hero material, such as light oak for the media unit, and warm teak for the bathroom vanities.

These cosy, tactile textures, thoughtfully-planned solutions and warm neutral tones combine to create an inviting home that ticks the modern day living box, and ensures continuing appeal to future buyers.

The Brief

The client was looking for a modern, practical upgrade that would add value to the property, while reflecting her lifestyle and personal taste.

She’s naturally drawn to earthy tones—particularly soft, calming greens—however we agreed a warm, neutral foundation would be the smartest long-term move. It keeps the apartment broadly appealing to future buyers, while allowing her personality to come through via art, accessories, and layered textures.

The Design Process

Because the client was based in the Far East and couldn’t be on-site throughout the refurbishment, she chose our Premium Makeover package allowing her to visualise the finished outcome clearly through detailed coloured floor plans and 2D elevations.

Once the design was signed off, she added our Takeover post-design service. We managed the project end-to-end: coordinating deliveries, liaising with suppliers and contractors, providing clear digital updates, and ensuring every detail was executed faithfully to the approved design.
